Judge Henson served on the Local Court for 33 years. Within that period of service, he also held a dual commission as a Judge of the District Court for 11 years and presided in both jurisdictions. The last 15 years of his career were in the dual capacity as Chief Magistrate and from 2010 as a Judge of the District Court whilst continuing to hold the appointment as Chief Magistrate of the Local Court. Since his retirement at the end of August 2021 he has been appointed an acting Judge of the District Court and presides in that jurisdiction as required.
